Hello, friends of Peaceful Village Acupuncture!
As fall settles into winter with yet more rain, I am grateful
for life. I’m grateful for the seasons of heat and cold,
dryness and dampness, sunlight and shadow, and for the balance
that each of these elements brings to the world. I am also grateful
to all of you for honoring me with the opportunity to help you
meet your goals of health and wholeness.
In my own healing journey, I’ve come to
understand that I become conscious of myself in one of two states
of mind, which change from time to time I’m either in
a place of good health and having the joy of aiding another’s
healing, or I’m in a place of needing healing myself,
of some kind or other. I use the term healing very broadly,
so I think you can relate to this. Either I need a kind word
(such as first thing in the morning), or I am ready to give
a kind word. I need to read something inspirational, or I am
ready to write something that may inspire someone else. I welcome
and experience the warmth of someone’s smile, or I am
the first to give a smile to a stranger.
The more I consider this, the more it seems
to ring true: Life is calling us to health and wholeness. We
are not meant to be seeking always, to be in need, to be straining
to feed at the cornucopia of life. We are meant to find, and
to give what we can offer to those who are, at that moment,
more in need than we are.
And when we find ourselves in a state of health,
relatively speaking perhaps, then we are available to be the
one doing the giving, to be sharing from our bounty with others.
As we continue to draw upon our sources of strength and become
more whole, we will not only release the clutch of pain, the
despondency of illness, or the need to fill ourselves. We will
begin to find within an inner heart of compassion. We will even
seek opportunities to make a difference in another person’s
life. This can be a turning point, a signpost that reminds us
that we can heal, and indeed at that moment, we are living in
wholeness.
May all of you acknowledge the bounty of Life
this season, and in acknowledging life’s gifts, feel gratitude,
and in your gratitude, sing with joy.
